He has also illustrated many books by other authors, including Charlotte Zolotow’s The Quarreling Book and Sam the Minuteman by Nathaniel Benchley, which was first published in 1969. Lobel also won the 1981 Caldecott Medal for his book Fables. Frog and Toad Together won a Newbery Honor award. They were consolidated into two books, The Frogs and Toads All Sang (2009) and Odd Owls and Stout Pigs (2009), and colored by Lobel’s daughter Adrianne however these books appear to be very different than the original set in that they contain only references to Frog and Toad and are not written, illustrated or delivered in the same manner as the original four editions.įrog and Toad are Friends was the recipient of a Caldecott Honor award.
